The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a tough doubleheader at Alvernia, Thursday.
The Cougars lost the opener, 5-4, in eight innings and fell 5-0 in the nightcap.
Alvernia scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the sixth in the first game before winning in extra innings.
Mike Murphy reached base for times and score a pair of runs while Brandon Calafut added a pair of hits.
Darren Morgan scattered eight his over five and two-third innings of work.
In the nightcap, Chris Messa, Mike D'Amara and Brandon Gehm had hits for the Cougars.
Steve Peet tossed a complete-game six-hitter while absorbing the loss.
