Kat Lucenti (Montrose, PA/Elk Lake)  and Jude Schappert (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover) have been named the Misericordia University Wendy's Athletes of the Month for March.

Lucenti is a pitcher on the MU softball team while Schappert is a member of the men's track & field team.

Lucenti helped the Cougars softball team to an 11-5 record during the month.

She was 7-1 with a 3.00 earned run average while limiting opponents to a .213 batting average.

She added 33 strikeouts in 48 innings and had a game-winning double in a win at Marywood.

Schappert led the Cougars by placing in four events at the MAC Indoor Championships.

He was second in the 55m hurdles, second in the high jump, third in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump.

He finished fourth in the pentathlon at the ECAC Championships with a school-record 3,314 points.

In addition, he opened the outdoor season with a second place finish at the Susquehanna Invitational.
