Misericordia University baseball standout
Mike Murphy (E. Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) was named to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference All-PAC first team while teammates
Jamie Philippi (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) and
Nate Newman (Ulster, PA/Athens) were named to the second team.
Junior outfielder
Mike D’Amara (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) earned honorable mention and
Pete Egbert was named PAC Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm of the Cougars.
Murphy, a junior third baseman, led the team in batting (.418), on-base percentage (.555), runs (44), hits (61), triples (5), total bases (85) and walks (42). He tied for the team lead in stolen bases (12).
He set school single-season records for hits, walks and games played and reached base in 40 of 41 games.
Philippi, a sophomore outfielder, made the second team for the second consecutive season. He was second on the team in batting (.371), hits (53) and on-base percentage (.448).
Newman, a sophomore outfielder, hit .300 with a .400 slugging percentage and .384 on-base percentage. He tied for the team lead in stolen bases (12) and was second on the team in runs (27) and third in RBI (24).
D’Amara, a junior designated hitter/outfielder, hit .315 with three homers and was second on the team with 27 RBI.
Egbert took over a team that won a combined nine games in the previous two seasons and led the Cougars to a 15-26-1 record.
MU finished 9-9 in the PAC and qualified for the PAC playoffs.
