Misericordia senior goalkeeper
Andrew Loyd has added to a long list of honors by being chosen as an NSCAA Scholar All-American. He was selected as a second-team keeper in the College Division.
Loyd was one of just 46 athletes from all divisions selected for the award. He is the first in program history to earn the distinction.
A four-year starter, Loyd started 19 games in goal, with an 11-5-3 record, 6 shutouts, and an impressive 0.97 goals against average.
In the classroom, Loyd also excelled. A mathematics major, he was selected to the MAC Honor Roll.
Loyd’s Scholar All-American honor caps an impressive career for the senior goalkeeper. Twice chosen as the MVP of the Freedom Championships, he was also a two-time All-Freedom Conference and Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection.
Loyd won a pair of Freedom Conference titles at Misericordia and helped lead the Cougars to the NCAA tournament in his final two seasons.
To be nominated for consideration, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution.
