Misericordia University's
Jeff Slanovec (Easton, PA/Freedom) and
Caitlin Cromley (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) have been named to the Capital One Academic All District team for baseball and softball, respectively.
Slanovec, a senior outfielder, maintains a 3.67 GPA in accounting and has led the Cougars to a 35-8 record, a national ranking and a berth in Saturday's Freedom Conference championship game.
He leads the Cougars in batting (.427) and on-base percentage (.477) and is second in slugging percentage (.684), hits (50), RBI (33) and total bases (80).
Slanovec was a second-team All-Freedom selection.
At the Freedom Championships, he had a walk-off hit in an elimination game win over FDU-Florham and blasted a solo homer to give MU the lead in a win over DeSales to force a decisive game seven.
Cromley, a junior, carries a 3.95 GPA as biology/physical therapy major.
She was the team MVP and was a second-team All-Freedom selection.
Cromley was named MVP of the Freedom Championships after leading the Cougars to the conference title a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
She was 2-0 on the mound at the Freedom Championships while hitting .500 (4-8) with three runs in three games.
She leads the team in batting (.399), slugging (.681), on-base percentage (.454), runs (43) and hits (55).
In addition, she is Misericordia's top pitcher with a 17-8 record and a 2.91 earned run average.
