2009 Baseball
Under second-year head coach Pete Egbert, the Cougars finished 22-18 and set a school record for victories in the NCAA era (1990-present).
Mike Murphy and Nate Newman were first-team All-Freedom Conference selections. Both were 2nd-team All-ECAC.
Newman was a second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selection. Murphy made the third team.
Murphy set school single-season records for hits (71), triples (7), runs (60), walks (42) and stolen bases (30) and career records for triples (12), walks (42) and stolen bases (45). He reached base in all 40 games and ended his career with a 67-game on-base streak.
Murphy and Jamie Philippi set a school record for hit by pitches (7).
Newman set a single-season record for total bases (110) and tied the mark for home runs (9).
Brandon Calafut set single-season and career records for doubles (21/45) and broke the all-time mark for putouts (567).
Calafut and Newman set a single-season record for RBI (47). Calafut finished second in career RBI (112).
Steve Peet set school career records for innings pitched (193.2) and appearances (48) and tied the record for career strikeouts (135).
Despite narrowly missing a Freedom playoff berth, the Cougars split a pair of games with conference champion Alvernia and swept two from fourth-seeded King’s.
Murphy was the team MVP while Newman was the Coach’s Award winner.
Mike D’Amara finished second all-time in games played (137) and stolen bases (44).
Murphy, D’Amara, Calafut, Peet and Cody Hack were honored as four-year letterman.
2008 Baseball
The Cougars finished 15-26-1 and made the PAC playoffs under first-year head coach Pete Egbert.
Mike Murphy was a first-team All-PAC selection and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region third team.
Jamie Philippi and Nate Newman were second-team All-PAC, and Mike D'Amara was honorable mention.
Egbert was the PAC Coach of the Year.
Murphy was the team MVP, while Brandon Calafut was the Coach's Award winner.
Murphy, Newman and Chriss Messa set a school single-season record for games played (42).
Murphy set single season records for hits (61) and walks (42) and tied the record for runs scored (44).
Messa set the school record for at-bats (168) and assists (122).
2007 Baseball
The Cougars finished 5-31.
Jamie Philippi was named second-team All-PAC and was the PAC Rookie of Year.
Philippi was also named team MVP.
Ryan Savka earned All-PAC honorable mention status and also received the Coach's Award.
Darren St. Clair set a school single-season record with seven hit by pitches.
2006 Baseball
The Cougars finished 4-36 under second-year head coach Josh Tehonica.
Terrence Mull was named first-team All-PAC and was selected as the team MVP.
Brian Valonis received the Coach’s Award set a school single-season record with 40 games played
John Stravinski set a school record with 17 appearances on the mound.
Mull set a MU career record for hit by pitches (14).
Valonis, Mull, Ralph Vance and Brett Hansen were honored as four-year lettermen.
2005 Baseball
The Cougars finished 18-20-1 under first year head coach Josh Tehonica. CM qualified for the PAC playoffs for the third straight season after finishing second during the regular season.
Harold Knebel set CM records for career games played (139), hits (189), doubles (44), triples (11), home runs (21), total bases (318), runs (151), RBI (119), stolen bases (39), assists (383). He set single-season records for stolen bases (23) and assists (105).
Evan Bardua became the toughest hitter to strike out in school history (16.2 at bats).
Jerry Lukach became CM's all-time strikeout leader (135). He set single-season marks for innings (65) and strikeouts (53).
Knebel and Brian Valonis set a school record for games played in a season (39).
Andrew Mikowski set single season records for at bats (156) and triples (6).
Josh Kendrick, Mikowski and Lukach were named first-team All-PAC, while Justin Fowler was second-team and Knebel was honorable mention. Chris Orner was on the All-PAC sportsmanship team.
Knebel was the team MVP while Fowler received the Coach's Award.
Knebel, Bardua, Fowler, Orner and Zach Kepczynski were honored as four-year letter winners. Rob Lozenski and Mikowski were also seniors.
2004 Baseball
The Cougars finished 20-15 and qualified for the PAC playoffs for the second straight season.
Matt O'Brien set a school record for career games played (135). Andrew Mikowski and George LoPresto tied the school single-season record (35).
O'Brien also become CM's career leader in hits (157), runs scored (115) and assists (303).
Harold Knebel set single season records for runs (44) and is CM's all-time leader in triples (8), homers (19), batting average (.401), slugging percentage (.702) and total bases (247).
LoPresto tied the school single-season record for RBI (41).
Evan Bardua moved into first place on CM's career list for at bats per strikeout (15.8).
Terrence Mull is the all-time leader in total chances per error (227).
Knebel became the first CM player to earn PAC player of the year honors.
Knebel and LoPresto were named to the ABCA All-Regional team.
Knebel, LoPresto and O'Brien were named first-team All-PAC while Bardue, Mull and Justin Fowler were second team.
Knebel was the team MVP while O'Brien earned the Coach's Award.
2003 Baseball
The Cougars enjoyed their best season in the "modern" era with a 21-14 record. MU qualified for the PAC playoffs and made their first appearance in the ECAC playoffs.
Albie Biggs set career records for complete games, wins and strikeouts. He set a single season record for innings pitched.
Harold Knebel set school records with nine home runs, 95 total bases and 43 runs. He is CM's career leader in slugging percentage.
Knebel and Matt O'Brien set a school record with 35 games played.
Biggs was named first team All-PAC and was the PAC "Pitcher of the Year".
O'Brien and Evan Bardua were second team and Knebel earned an honorable mention.
Biggs was the team MVP, and Greg Stanislow earned the Coach's Award
Biggs was the only senior on the team.
2002 Baseball
The Cougars finished the season 19-10 overall and 11-10 in the PAC. MU finished one game behind Wesley for the final PAC playoff berth, despite sweeping a three-game series to end the season.
Jonmichael Vito and Ed Piekara set a school recor with 34 games played.
Matt O'Brien set school records with 35 runs scored and 132 at bats.
Ray Zawisza ended his career as the school's all-time leader in fielding percentage (.995) and total chances/error (217).
Vito set a record for total chanced without an error (184) in a season.
Justin Fowler finished sixth in the PAC in batting, while Ed Piekara was fifth in the PAC in ERA and George LoPresto was 10th.
Piekara was named first-team All-PAC in the outfield and second-team All-PAC as a pitcher. Fowler was second-team and Evan Bardua was honorable mention.
Piekara, Vito, Zawisza, Brian Slocum, Sam Parolise and Mike Hollos were all four year lettermen.
2001 Baseball
The Cougars finished 15-17 overall and 10-11 in the PAC. They tied for fourth in the PAC but lost the tiebreaker criteria for the final PAC playoff berth.
Chris Wade tied the school record for career games played (120) and is the all-time leader in putouts with 529.
Ed Piekara set school single season records for at bats (124), homers (7) and saves (6). He is the career leader with 10 saves.
Ray Zawisza is the school's single season and career leader in fielding percentage at 1.000%.
Jason Hause broke his own school record with 104 assists and set the career record with 268 assists.
Wade, Piekara and Matt O'Brien were named first-team All-PAC.
Piekara was the team MVP and Mike Duda earned the Coach's Award.
Duda, Bill Dessoye, Wade and Hause were four-year lettermen.
2000 Baseball
The Cougars finished 12-18-1 overall and 7-7 in the PAC.
Jamie Smith set a new school record with a .584 on base percentage. He is also the school's all-time leader with a .526 on base percentage. He also led the PAC in batting average
First baseman Chris Wade set a school record with 222 putouts, and Jason Hause set a school record with 76 assists.
Catcher Mike Duda is the school's all-time leader in fielding percentage and total chances/error.
Todd Bardua became the school's all-time leader with 44 appearances.
Smith and Justin Kotarski were names first-team All-PAC/
Senior pitcher Brian Smith was fifth in the PAC in ERA while freshman pitcher Albie Biggs was 10th.
Smith was the team MVP and Hause received that Coach's Award.
Smith, Bardua and Ryan Vetter were four-year lettermen.
1999 Baseball
The Cougars finished 7-21 with 13 of their losses by three runs or less. MU lost a pair of 4-3 heartbreakers to PAC champion Wesley.
Bryan Smith finished 10th in the PAC in ERA at 3.59.
Freshman outfielder Justin Kotarski was a second-team All-PAC selection.
Smith was the team MVP while Dan Dushanko received the Coach's Award.
Mike DeFrancesco, Dushanko, Chad Madden and Bob Skasko were recognized as four-year lettermen.
1998 Baseball
The Cougars finished 14-15 and tied for first in the PAC at 7-3. They made their second consecutive playoff appearance.
Joe Young set school career records for games (120), hits (142), doubles (36) and at bats/strikeouts (15.2).
Tom Walsh set career records for stolen bases (35) and assists (244). He also set a single season assist record (66).
Chris Rees became the school's all time leader in fielding percentage (.970), appearances (43), starts (37), complete games (9), innings (187.1), strikeouts (112) and wins (13).
Mike Duda set a record for chances/error (72).
Rees was selected to the GTE Academic All-American All-District Team for the second straight year.
Rees was first team All-PAC selection while Young, Bob Skasko and Bryan Smith were named second team.
Young was the team MVP while Rees received the Coach's Award.
Vince Blaney, Todd Krawchuk, Rees, Chris Scozzari, Walsh and Young were recognized as four year lettermen.
1997 Baseball
The Cougars finished 14-16-1, their best season in Chuck Edkins' six seasons as head coach. They made their first ever PAC playoff appearance and finished second.
CM went 13-8 in April after a 1-8-1 start.
Joe Campisi set school single-season records for hits (56), total bases (93), RBI's (41), stolen bases (13), fielding (.989), at bats (122), home runs (6) and total chances/errors (91/1).
Joe Young set single-season records for on base percentage (.530), doubles (16) and runs (33).
Young and Campisi were ranked among the national leaders in batting throughout the season. Young was also ranked in doubles per game.
Young, Campisi, Tom Walsh and Angelo Colonna were all named to the PAC All-Star team. Chris Rees was named second-team, and Edkins was voted PAC Coach of the Year.
Campisi become CM's first All-ECAC and All-Regional selection.
Rees was selected to the GTE Academic All-American All-District Team.
Campisi was the team MVP, while Paul Erwin received the Coach's Award.
Campisi, Erwin, Colonna and Joe Ashton were recognized as four-year lettermen.
1996 Baseball
For the fourth consecutive season, the Cougars won as many of more games than the previous season. CM finished 6-6 and in third place in the PAC.
Big wins included: beating Alvernia for the first time in six years, beating nationally ranked Albright on the road, beating MAC playoff team King's and beating Scranton and Lackawanna County Stadium.
Tom Walsh was named first-team All-PAC.
Eric Williams was the team MVP, and Jody Haggerty received the Coach's Award.
1995 Baseball
The 1995 baseball season was the continuation of the development of a competitive collegiate baseball program at Misericordia University. For the third straight season, the Cougars won more games than the previous season. MU finished 6-6 and in third place in the PAC.
The Cougars recorded a three-game win streak over Wilkes, King's and Marywood in a one-week span. They swept series from King's and Marywood while splitting with Wilkes.
Senior Tim Arnold set a new NCAA Division III record with six walks in one game.
Junior catcher Eric Williams and sophomore outfielder Joe Ashton were both named first-team All-PAC.
1994 Baseball
An overall record of 6-17 may not seem impressive to some, but those who have been around the CM baseball team for the last three years know what an accomplishment that record is. The Cougars of Chuck Edkins improved throughout the season and developed into a competitive ball club while displaying the skills and talent of a college baseball team.
Eric Williams hit .432 with six homer to lead the offensive attack.
Freshman Joe Bunevicius hit .400.
Williams, Joe Shrimp and Frank Cwalinski were named first-team All-PAC.
Cwalinski, a senior in his first season on the team, was the team MVP. John Riggs, a four-year letterman, received the Coach's Award and will join the team as a student assistant coach next season.
1993 Baseball
In his second season as head coach of the CM baseball team, Chuck Edkins has established a nucleus for the future. With a limited amount of experience, Edkins guided the Cougars to a 4-13 record while displaying constant improvement. As the season progressed, the Cougars developed into a competitive ball club and gave reason to be excited about the future.
CM defeated Scranton for the first time in several years.
Eric Williams hit .500 with five homers and 15 RBI's.
Matt Goheen and Bryan Most both worked four complete games each.
Williams and John Drouse were named All-PAC.
1992 Baseball
The Cougars completed their first season under head coach Chuck Edkins, who recorded his first career win against Penn St. Harrisburg.
Freshman Eric Pieczynski led the team in hitting at .438. He hit in 19 of 23 games, including a "modern day" school record 11-game hit streak.
Two other players hit above .300: senior outfielder, Pat Del Balso and senior second baseman, Kevin Ward.
Pieczynski was named co-athlete of the month in April.
Del Balso was the team MVP and Ward earned the Coach's Award.
1991 Baseball
The Cougars finished 13-11-1 on the season under head coach Irv Post.
Anthony Vicari led CM in hitting with a .370 average and 34 total hits.
Senior Kevin Villa was nationally ranked in doubles per game with 8 doubles in just 23 game (0.35 average).
Villa, Pat Del Balso and Vicari were first-team All-PAC, while Mike Post, Jeff Spencer and Scott Garabedian were named to the second-team.
