MU Advances to Winner's Bracket Final

Misericordia University advanced to the winner's bracket final of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference softball championships with an 8-0 win over Gwynedd-Mercy, Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field.

Misericordia scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game.

Hollie Sarnak had three hits to lead the Cougars and Lindsay Miller had two hits and two RBI.

Brittany Bradburn added two hits to make a winner of Kat Lucenti, who tossed a two-hitter and struck out five.

Rachel Smull and Erica Fullforth had hits for the Griffins.

Heather Morgan allowed nine hits and five earned runs while suffering the loss.

Misericordia broke open a scoreless game with a five-run fourth inning.

Miller led off with a single and advanced to third on a double by Sarnak.

Miller scored on a fielder's choice and Sarnak came home on Kristen Norris' sacrifice fly.

Gina Urbon reached on an error and Hoskins beat the throw home when Ashley Ballard reached on a fielder's choice.

Bradburn beat out a bunt to score Urbon and Courtney Novajosky followed with an RBI single to left.

Nicole Wenner started the game-ending rally with a one-out single. Pinch-runner Gina Jorgensen moved to third on Bradburn's single.

After Jorgensen was thrown out at home on Courtney Novajosky's fielder's choice, Miller followed with a two-run double. She scored the final run on a overthrow.

The Cougars will face Neumann in the winner's bracket final, Saturday at 4:00.
