Joe Scanlon (Harford, PA/Mountain View) has been named the Misericordia University Wendy's Male Athlete of the Month for September while
Ali Ostrum (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) and
Abby Searfoss (Northampton, PA/Northampton) shared the women's honor.
Scanlon, a junior, led the men's soccer team to a 4-3-2 month, including a win over nationally-ranked John Carroll.
He scored MU's lone goal in the 1-0 win over John Carroll and gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in their 1-1 tie at Scranton.
He added a goal in a win over Baptist Bible and in a 2-2 at Gettysburg.
He is third on the team in scoring with nine points (4g, 1a).
Ostrum, a senior, was the top MU finisher in all four women's cross country meets.
She was first at the Wilkes and the NEPA Classic and finished third at Lock Haven and the Cougar Classic.
Searfoss, a senior, led the women's tennis team to a 6-2 record. She is unbeaten (8-0) at first singles and first doubles.
