The Misericordia baseball team has announced their captains for the upcoming 2010 season. Seniors Jamie Philippi and Nate Newman will lead the Cougars as they look to build on their 22-18 record in 2009.

Philippi will be the number one pitcher and play second base when he doesn't pitch. He earned All-Conference accolades as a freshman. Philippi is a business major and plans to grauate in May.

Newman will play shortstop and hit third in the batting order. He led the team with 9 HR's and 47 RBI last year. He was an All-Conference and All-Region player in 2009. Newman is an education major and plans to graduate next fall.

The MU baseball team opens up the 2010 season on February 20 with a doubleheader at Shenandoah in Virginia.
