This weekend, the Misericordia men’s basketball team will host the 18th Annual Laurel Line Tournament, sponsored by RAMADA.

On Friday, Marywood will face Penn State-Hazleton at 6:00 PM before the Cougars take on Baptist Bible at 8:00. The consolation game will be played on Saturday at 6:00, with the final scheduled for 8:00.

MU is 1-0 on the season after an impressive 99-78 win over Centenary in the Cougars’ home opener. Senior Dom Del Prete and sophomore Ethan Eichhorst led Misericordia with 20 points each.

In an all-around team effort, Robbie Johnson scored 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting, Marcus Little chipped in 14, and Jeff Slanovec added 11 points. Senior Mark Williams had nine points in the first half on perfect 4-of-4 shooting.

Marywood is 1-0 after a 96-78 victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Freshman guard D.J. Strayhorn had a memorable collegiate debut, with 29 points.

Baptist Bible also defeated Penn State Wilkes-Barre to begin the season 1-0, this time by a score of 63-55. Penn State-Hazleton is 0-2 after losses to Wilkes and Lycoming.

Misericordia is tied with Scranton for most Laurel Line titles, with the teams having won five times each. Baptist Bible has won the tournament three times, with Marywood emerging victorious on two occasions.

Last season, Marywood took the crown with a 61-58 victory over Misericordia in the championship game. Prince Blacknall was selected as MVP after putting up 28 points in the final.
