The Misericordia University men's soccer team finished second during the regular season in the Freedom Conference and will host Wilkes, Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Mangelsdorf Field in the semifinal round.
Ticket prices are: adults ($5), senior citizens ($4) and students ($2). Children under six are admitted free.
The MU/Wilkes winner will play the Manhattanville/King's winner for the title. The Freedom champions earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
Wednesday's game will be a rematch of last season's Freedom championship, when Misericordia scored with eight seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. The Cougars went on to win the title in a shootout.
Earlier this year, MU beat Wilkes 3-0 at home thanks to first half goals from
Nick Ferguson,
Tim Bullis and
Joey Scanlon. Misericordia is 7-9-1 all-time against the Colonels.
Offensively, Wilkes is led by
Sean Vona (5g, 1a),
Greg Miller (3g, 3a),
Joe Brennan (4g) and
Arthur Jankowski (2g, 3a). In goal,
Kaleb Smith has five shutouts was last week's Freedom Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The Colonels are 8-8-1 overall and finished 4-2-1 in Freedom play, with their only conference losses coming against the top two seeds.
