The Misericordia University women's soccer team finished second during the regular season in the Freedom Conference and will host Eastern, Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Mangelsdorf Field in the semifinal round.
Ticket prices are: adults ($5), senior citizens ($4) and students ($2). Children under six are admitted free.
The MU/Eastern winner will face the Manhattanville/Wilkes winner for the Freedom Championship. The winner will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
Misericordia is 12-6-1 all-time against Eastern, but will need to break the Eagles' current streak of four straight victories over the Cougars. In this season's match-up, Eastern won 2-0 thanks to two late second half goals from
Jillian DiRenzo.
The two teams have some playoff history, as Misericordia defeated Eastern in the 2002 conference championship game back when both teams were members of the PAC.
Eastern finished the 2009 season with an 8-7-1 overall record. The Eagles' 4-1-2 mark in conference play left them a point behind Misericordia, with draws against Wilkes and DeSales costing them a chance to host this match.
The Cougars will have to account for DiRenzo, who is third in the Freedom Conference with 15 goals.
Kim Suchoski (9g, 3a) and
Sam Helmstetter (7g, 7a) lead MU with 21 points each.
