Misericordia University soccer standouts
Andrew Loyd (Dillsburg, PA/Northern York) and
Sam Helmstetter (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) have been named the MU Wendy's Athletes of the Month for October.
A senior goalkeeper, Loyd led the men's soccer team to a 6-1-1 record during the month to clinch the second seed in the Freedom Conference championships.
He stopped 88.5% of opponent's shots while recording three shutouts and allowing just .41 goals per game in 661 minutes.
Helmstetter, a freshman, led the women's soccer team to a 6-3 record during the month on their way to a second place finish during the regular season in the Freedom Conference.
She had team-highs in goals (6), assists (3) and points (15) and tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals.
The Wendy's Misericordia University Athlete of the Month program is in its 11th year and is sponsored by Quality Served Fast (QSF), our local Wendy's franchise organization.
