Andrew Loyd has been chosen as the MVP of the Freedom Conference Championships after leading the Cougars to the title and making 11 saves in a final match shutout over host Manhattanville.
Loyd also won the award in 2008 after MU won a pair of shootout victories to claim the conference championship.
Down 1-0, Manhattanville threw numbers forward late in the game, but Loyd was there every time. Early in the second half, he made three great stops in a minute, denying a chance off a corner kick, then leaping to tip Keston George's long-range shot over the bar, and finally making another stop on the ensuing corner.
Loyd made two more breakaway saves in the dying minutes to seal the victory.
For the season, the senior captain has five shutouts and a 0.92 goals against average in 18 starts.
