Three members of the Misericordia men's soccer team have been chosen to the 2009 NSCAA College Scholar All-East Region team. Senior Andrew Loyd and juniors Joe Scanlon and Tyler Anderson all made the list after also being chosen for the All-Freedom Conference team and making the MAC Honor Roll for their academic accomplishments.

Loyd was chosen as the first-team goalkeeper. Scanlon was a third-team midfielder while Anderson, a defender, was honorable mention.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution.

Loyd, a Mathematics major, backstopped the Cougars to the 2009 Freedom Conference title. He was named MVP of the Freedom championships after making 11 saves in the final match against Manhattanville.

Scanlon, an Elementary Education major, scored 12 goals for MU included three in the Freedom championships to lead the Cougars to victory.

Anderson, a Nursing major, anchored a Misericordia defense that only conceded 19 goals all season, including just five goals in nine conference games.
