Cougars Set for MAC Championships

The Misericordia University men's and women's swim teams will compete at the MAC Championships, Friday-Sunday at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.

The MU women expect to battle for the team title after finishing second in their first MAC appearance a year ago while the men's team is primed to improve on its fourth place finish.

Alaina Trent leads the women's the women's team with top seeds in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke.

Alicia Bryk is the top seed in the 50 free while Abby Kocon is third.

Kocon is seeded fourth in the 200 free where she is joined by three teammates, Chelsea Mixon, Trent and Jessica Grant, in the top nine.

Kocon is fourth in the 100 free while Mixon, Bryk, Erin Schneck and Dani Basile are in the top 16.

Michelle Lacroce and Crissy Condus are seeded third and fourth, respectively in the 100 butterfly and
Trent is third in the 100 backstroke.

MU has six swimmers in the top 16 in the 100 breaststroke, including third-seeded Amanda McHugh.

Jessie Williamson and Condus are seeded third in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly, respectively.

The Cougars are seeded first or second in all five relay events including the top seeds in the 400 medley and 800 free.

For the men, freshman Mitch Finch is the top seed in three events, including the 400 IM and 100 and 200 backstrokes.

Jeff Clark, the defending in the 200 breaststroke, is seeded first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while Greg Vossler is the top seed in the 50 free.

MU is also seed first in the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Clark is seeded fourth in the 200 IM and Kyle Geier, Nick Cannizzaro, and Eric Schollmeyer are seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 200 butterfly.

Action begins Friday at noon.
