Abby Kocon won three events and set three school records on the first day of the MAC championships.

Cougars Open MAC's With Six Titles, Seven School Records

The Misericordia University men's and women's swim teams combined for seven school records and won six of the 10 events on the first day of the MAC Championships, Friday at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.

Abby Kocon was part of three championships and three school records while Alaina Trent won twice and set two school records and Greg Vossler won two events.

Kocon, Amanda McHugh, Chelsea Mixon and Alicia Bryk opened the finals with a school record (1:40.16) to give MU their second straight MAC title in the 200 free relay.

Not to be out-done, Greg Vossler, Robbie Jacobs, Jeff Clark and Mike Dougherty set a school record (1:27.86) to win the men's 200 free relay.

Trent became the first Misericordia woman to win an individual MAC championship with a school record in the 200 IM (2:15.48).

Kocon broke her own school record to win the 50 free (24.75) while Bryk (25.32) was second.

Vossler claimed the men's 50 free (21.84).

Trent, McHugh, Michelle Lacroce and Kocon ended the evening with another school record to win the 400 medley relay (4:10.56).

Mitch Finch, Clark, Eric Schollmeyer and Vossler shaved more than four seconds off the school record (3:35.92) while finishing second in the men's 400 medley relay.

Jessica Grant finished third in the 500 free (5:28.28) and Crissy Condus was 14th (5:48.91).

For the men, Nick Cannizzaro (5:03.81) and Kyle Geier (5:07.65) finished 10th and 13th, respectively, in the 500 free.

Lacroce (2:21) and McHugh (2:21.48) were fifth and ninth in the 200 IM.

Clark finished fourth in the men's 200 IM with a school record (2:00.3) while Brendan Dougherty (2:05.53) and Mike Labagh (2:13.81) were eighth and 14th, respectively.

Mixon (26.10) finished ninth in the 50 free while Jessie Williamson (26.67) was 15th.

Jacobs (22.48) and Mike Dougherty (22.68) were fifth and sixth in the 50 free and Schollmeyer (22.71) was 11th.

The MU women are in second place with 190 points, just one point behind Albright while the men are in third place with 167 points.
