Misericordia University senior goalkeeper Andrew Loyd has added yet another award to a prestigious career- earning the MAC Scholar-Athlete Award for men's soccer.

The MAC Awards Committee bases selection on academic record (50%) and athletic prowess (50%). One student-athlete is chosen per sport. The winner must be a senior with a minimum GPA of 3.2.

Loyd, a mathematics major, excelled both in the classroom and on the field in 2009. He led the Cougars in their successful defense of the Freedom Conference championship, earning a second consecutive NCAA bid. In 19 starts, he had an 11-5-3 record, 6 shutouts, and an impressive 0.97 goals against average.

Loyd adds this MAC award to a long list of 2009 honors. He has already been named first-team All-Freedom Conference, second-team All-Region, and second-team Scholar All-American (College Division). In addition, he was MVP of the Freedom Conference championships and won the Misericordia team Coach's Award.
