Alicia Bryk and
Greg Vossler both won individual titles to lead the Misericordia University swim teams on the opening day of the MAC Championships, Friday at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
Bryk, who set a school record (26.54) during the preliminaries, led MU's one-two-three sweep in the 50 freestyle where she was joined by
Chelsea Mixon and
Abby Kocon.
Vossler (21.83) repeated as the 50 freestyle champion while teammates
Eric Schollmeyer and
Adam Grzech finished fourth and eighth, respectively.
The MU women opened the finals by winning the 200 freestyle relay for the third consecutive year with Kocon,
Kiana Ramirez, Mixon and Bryk setting a school record (1:39.83) in the process.
The men's team of Grzech,
Jeff Clark, Schollmeyer and Vossler (1:26.04) followed suit by winning the 200 free relay. Their school-record time tied the MAC Championships record while setting a CYC pool record.
Clark took two more seconds off his school record (1:56.62) while finishing second in the 200 IM while
Brendan Dougherty and
Eric Thomas were ninth and 12th.
Grzech, Clark, Schollmeyer and Vossler finished second in the 400 medley relay with a school record (3:32.44).
Megan McChesney, Bryk,
Michelle Lacroce and Mixon set a school record (4:08.03) while finishing third in the 400 medley relay.
Kocon and
Jessica Grant finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 500 freestyle.
Lacroce finished sixth in the 200 IM while
Crissy Condus, Danni Basile and
Brianna Hiltey were ninth, 12th and 13th.
Ramirez and Basile were 11th and 15th, respectively, in the 50 freestyle.
Mike Dougherty was ninth in the 50 free and
Vince Paone, Nick Cannizzaro and
Kyle Geier were 11th-13th in the 500 free.
MU is second in the women's team standings with 193 points while the men are third with 174 points.
Action resumes Saturday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:00 p.m.

Chelsea Mixon (25.39) all finished in the top four during prelims of the 50 freestyle with Bryk breaking Kocon's school record.

Jess Grant (5:30.60) were third and fifth to advance to the finals of the 500 freestyle.
Michelle Lacroce (2:20.43) finished sixth in the 200 IM.
Jeff Clark (1:58.85) broke his own school record with the fastest time in the 200 IM.
Greg Vossler (22.01) finished second to lead a trio of Cougars to the 50 free finals.
Eric Schollmeyer (22.10) and
Adam Grzech (22.26) were third and seventh, respectively.
Nick Cannizzaro, Vince Paone and
Kyle Geier qualified for the consolation final in the 500 free while
Brendan Dougherty and
Eric Thomas reached the consolation final of the 200 IM.
Mike Dougherty advanced to the consolations of the 50 free.
Crissy Condus, Danni Basile and
Brianna Hiltey are in the consolation final of the 200 IM while Basile and
Kiana Ramirez are in the 50 freestyle consolation final.
The finals get underway Friday at 6:00 p.m.
