Two Misericordia University athletes have been recognized by the Middle Atlantic Conferences for their contributions over the past week.

Freshman Kyle Calabro was named the MAC Player of the Week for men's lacrosse, while junior Nate Newman was the Freedom Conference Player of the Week for baseball.

Calabro earned the award after totaling seven goals and one assist in three games. He scored his seven goals on just nine shots.

Calabro scored four times in Saturday's 12-5 victory over Wells, MU's first victory of the season.

Newman hit .545 (6-11) with one double, one triple, one homer and four RBIs in a 3-0 week at the Central Florida Invitational as the Cougars got off to their best start (7-1) in eight years.

He launched a two-run homer in the first inning of a tight 4-3 victory over Husson on March 11.

Newman had an astronomical 1.091 slugging percentage for the week.
