The Misericordia University cheerleading team finished fifth at the Universal Cheerleading Association National Championships, Saturday at the Wide World of Sports HP Field House in Orlando, FL.
After advancing to the UCA Division II/III finals for the first time in school history with two nearly flawless performances in the opening rounds, the Cougars closed with the best finish in the program's history.
“I'm so proud of this team,” said Misericordia head coach
Tara Sinclair. “After missing the finals the last two years, we increased the difficulty level inside the routine and the team's hard work paid off with a trip to the national finals.”
“The seniors knew from the beginning of the season that this team could reach new heights and we did that this weekend,” said senior team captain
Jordan Marzani. “Through hard times and injuries, this team was dedicated to make the finals and we exceeded that by placing fifth in the nation.”
