MU 2nd after Day Two of MAC's

The Misericordia University men's swimming team is second after day two of the MAC Championships.

The 200 medley relay team of Adam Grzech, Doug Ranson, Eric Schollmeyer and Brad Thomas finished first in a time of 1:35.04.

In the 400 IM Ben Annibali won the consolation heat in a time of 4:35.02 and Nicholas Essington finished seventh in the final (4:37.76).  

The Cougars had four swimmers in the final of the 100 fly.  Matt Moates finished third (52.90), Brad Thomas placed fourth (53.15), Schollmeyer was sixth (54.19) and Eric Thomas was eigth (54.68).

In the 200 freestyle consolation heat Chris Panagacos finished sixth (1:53.21) and Chris Brozena placed fifth (1:53.17).  Matthew Essington finished fourth in the finals (1:47.86) while Peter Kolokithias broke a school record in a second-place finish in a time of 1:46.35.

Doug Ranson won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 59.89 while Nick Armetrano (1:04.00) and Dan Zuckerman (1:02.79) took the top two spots in the consolation heat.

MU placed four swimmers in the finals for the 100 backstroke.  Adam Grzech finished third and broke a school record (52.96) while Moates finished fourth (54.35), Eric Thomas placed sixth (55.77) and Machi was seventh (56.57).

MU shatterd a school-record in the 800 free relay. The team of Matthew Essington, Brad Thomas, Moates and Kolokithias swam it in a time of 7:06.97.

The Cougars are 59.5 points behind first place, and will look to move up to first when they finish the championships, Sunday.
