Adam Grzech and
Doug Ranson both won individual titles to lead the Misericordia University men's swim team to their best ever showing with a second place finish at the MAC Championships, Sunday at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
Grzech teamed with
Peter Kolokithias,
Brad Thomas and
Matt Moates to win the 400 free relay in a pool record time of 3:10.00 and completed the sweep of the relays.
Grzech (47.35) set a school record to win the 100 free and Ranson (2:10.43) took the 200 breaststroke.
Moates (1:59.61) finished second to lead four MU finalists in the 200 back.
Ben Annibali (2:01.04),
Vince Paone (2:04.25) and
Eric Thomas (2:04.85) finished fourth through sixth.
Thomas Machi (1:59.21) was fourth in the 200 fly and
Eric Schollmeyer (2:05.14) was sixth.
Chris Panagacos finished second in the consolation heat.
Brad Thomas (48.49) was fourth in the 100 free while Matt Essington (7th) and Kolokithias (8th) also reached the finals.
Chris Brozena was second in the consolation race.
Nick Essington (17:44.17) finished seventh in the 1650 finals and
Vince Paone was eighth.
