Misericordia University's Chelsea Mixon (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) has been named the 2011-12 MAC Scholar-Athlete for women's swimming.

The award is presented to an outstanding senior student-athlete who excels athletically and academically.

Mixon maintains a 3.96 GPA in social work and is a three-time MAC All-Academic honoree.

In the pool, she was a two-time team MVP and helped the Cougars to MAC championships in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay and a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay.

She finished second in the 50 free and was third in the 100 free.

Mixon set on school individual record and was part of five school relay records.

As part of her internship in the Campus Ministry Office, she has spearheaded the Noxen Project to help underprivileged in the nearby community.
