The Misericordia University softball team fell to Rowan University by a score of 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Union Regional, Thursday.

Caitlin Cromley went 2-3 from the plate and pitched six innings allowing seven hits.

MU threatened early in the top of the first when Amanda Polaha was walked and Cromley bunted her way on to put two runners on with one out.  They advanced to second and third with on a passed ball but two fly balls ended the inning.

Rowan was held to two hits until the bottom of the fourth when they had a two-out double to left center to plate the first run. They added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth on another RBI double and a two-run home run to extend their lead to 4-0.

The Cougars tried to respond when Kristi Seiler opened the top of the sixth with a single through the left side. Megan Hardy drew a walk to put runners on first and second with two outs.  RU struck out the next batter to spoil MU's best chance since the opening inning.

Misericordia will face the loser of Centenary and Moravian, Friday at noon.
