Misericordia University baseball standout
Evan Robaczewski (Plymouth, PA/Wyoming Valley West) was named the Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Year and was joined on the All-Freedom first-team by teammates
Kenny Durling (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West),
Matt Karabin (Port Reading, NJ/St. Joseph) and
Gabe Noyalis (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock).
In addition,
Jeff Slanovec (Easton, PA/Freedom) made the second-team.
Robaczewski, a junior in his first season at Misericordia, made an immediate impact to the starting pitching rotation. He led the Freedom Conference in wins and set a school single-season record in the process while compiling a 10-0 record during the regular season.
He led the Freedom in strikeouts with 50 and finished third in earned run average (3.30) while his .246 opponent's batting average was second in the Freedom.
Robaczewski had three complete games, including two shutouts, while throwing a league-high 62.2 innings. He allowed two runs or less is six of his 10 starts.
Durling, a junior, was a repeat selection as center fielder. He finished seventh in the Freedom in batting (.408) while leading the Cougars in slugging percentage (.732), on-base percentage (.470), hits (58), doubles (16), homers (8) and total bases (104).
He set a school single-season record with 48 RBI.
Karabin, a junior, joined Robaczewski as a first-team selection at pitcher. He was 5-1 with one save and a league-best 1.68 earned run average. He allowed just three total runs in his last five starts and led the league with a .240 opponent's batting average.
Noyalis, a sophomore, was selected at utility after splitting time between third base and pitcher. He hit .258 with five doubles, one homer and 20 RBI. On the mound, he was 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA and a team-high four saves. He struck out 16 in 21.1 innings.
Slanovec, a senior, was selected the second team after a stellar season in right field. He finished fifth in the Freedom in batting (.410) and finished second on the team in homers (5), total bases (64), slugging percentage (.640) and on-base percentage (.460).
Misericordia, 32-7, is ranked 10th in the country and will open the Freedom Championships against Manhattanville, Friday in Quakertown.
