The Misericordia men's track and field team opened the 2012 MAC Championships with a school record in the 4x800 relay, Thursday in Elizabethtown.

The team of John Gibbons, Glenn Layaou, Jarrett Higley and Kyle Suponcic finished fifth in a school-record time of 8:05.06.

The Cougars will continue the MAC Championships tomorrow at 10:00.
