The Misericordia softball team will continue post-season play against third-seeded Rowan in the first-round of the NCAA Union, NJ Regional Tournament, Thursday at 2:00.
MU is the number six seed in the regional bracket after a 28-15 season and a sweep of the Freedom Conference Championships.
Freshman
Kristi Seiler was named Freedom Rookie of the Year and named first team All-Freedom. She finished the Freedom Championships with a .391 batting average with 52 hits, 45 RBI, 15 doubles and seven homers.
She had a walk-off homer in the opening game and added a walk-off home run in a 3-1 victory over Eastern to advance to the championship game.
Caitlin Cromley was named Freedom Championship MVP as well as second team All-Freedom as a pitcher. She also enjoyed a successful year in the batter's box.
On the mound, she has a record of 17-8, including a five-hit victory in the championship game, and led the team in both batting average (.399) and ERA (2.91). She accumulated 29 RBI on 55 hits, including nine doubles and eight home runs.
Amanda Polaha hit .360 with 18 RBI and three homers and led the team with a field percentage of .991 with only two errors at first base.
Senior
Jill Castaldi has a batting average of .295 with 18 RBI while
Kat LaBrie is hitting .313 with nine doubles.
Rowan is 36-7 after defeating top-seeded Montclair State University, 3-1, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship game on Sunday.
The Profs are led by their all-conference pitcher in LeAnne Miller and all-conference first baseman Stephanie Labas. Miller has a 1.25 ERA with a record of 20-1 and Labas leads the team with 38 RBI and 11 home runs.
MU will play either Moravian or Centenary in the next round, Friday
