Misericordia University men's soccer standouts Barry Fitzgerald (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Dennis Halpin (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) have been named to the inaugural MAC All-Academic team.

Fitzgerald, a sophomore goalkeeper, was also named first-team NSCAA All-Region and was the Freedom Conference Defensive Player of the Year

He allowed just .74 goals per game while leading the Cougars to a 13-5-2 record and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Fitzgerald stopped 86.2% of the shots he faced and posted 11 shutouts, the second-most in school history.

He maintains a 3.49 GPA as a philosophy major.

Halpin, a senior, started all 20 games at back.

He had two assists while anchoring a defense that held opponents to .73 goals per game.

A senior physical therapy major, he carries a 3.81 grade point average.
