Box Score Denison used a late surge to hand the Misericordia University women's basketball team a 58-47 defeat, Sunday afternoon at the Smokey Ballenger Classic in Westerville, OH.
Sam Baro led the Cougars with 14 points and
Hannah Seely added a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
After battling to a 28-28 tie in the first half, the Cougars shot just 22.6% from the floor in the second half, but trailed just 44-40 with less than four minutes to play.
Denison scored eight straight points to take a 52-40 lead with 1:28 remaining.
The Cougars held Denison scoreless for the first eight minutes of the second half, but were only able to muster five points of their own to lead 33-30 with 12 minutes remaining.
Denison scored four straight to take a 34-33 lead and MU never led again.
The teams went back-and-forth throughout a tight first half with Denison's 20-15 lead the biggest advantage of the opening 20 minutes.

Hannah Seely layup pulled MU even, 21-21.
Two free throws by
Justine Seely gave Misericordia a 25-23 lead and
Hannah Seely's three-point play made it 28-26 with 4:30 to go.
Denison scored the only points the rest of the way to tie the score heading into halftime.
Misericordia, 5-5, will travel to SUNY-Geneseo, Friday.
