The Middle Atlantic Conference has recognized Misericordia University's
Megan Mahoney (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) as the MAC Scholar-Athlete for women's soccer.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete Award is presented to an outstanding senior student-athlete who excels athletically and academically.
A professional studies major, Mahoney carries a perfect 4.0 grade average and was a Capital One
Academic All-American and NSCAA Scholar All-American as well as being named to the MAC All-Academic team.
She was a second-team NSCAA All-American, All-East Region and was the Offensive Player of the Year in the Freedom Conference and ECAC South Region.
Mahoney led the Cougars to their third consecutive Freedom title and fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance where they advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third year in a row.
Mahoney finished tied for 11
th in the nation with 14 assists.
She was 18
th in the nation with 56 points and tied for 20
th with 21 goals while setting school single
season records in both categories.
Mahoney had at least one point in 16 of 23 games played while averaging 2.43 points per game.
She had a seven-game point streak and had five multi-goal games, including two hat tricks.
In just two seasons at Misericordia she finished fourth in career points (109) and tied for second in
career assists (33). She was seventh with 38 career goals.
