Megan Mahoney Named MAC Freedom NCAA Woman of the Year

Misericordia University's Megan Mahoney (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) has been named the MAC Freedom NCAA Woman of the Year.
 
A senior women's soccer standout, Mahoney led the Cougars to their third consecutive Freedom Conference title and third straight NCAA Sweet 16 berth.  She was a second-team NSCAA All-American and the Offensive Player of the Year in the Freedom Conference and ECAC South.
 
In addition, she was first-team All-Freedom, All-ECAC South and NSCAA All-Region after leading the team in goals (21), assists (14) and points (56).  She set school single-season records for points and assists and finished second in career assists (33) and fourth in career points (109) in just two seasons.
 
Mahoney was Misericordia's Wendy's Female Athlete of the Year and was the school's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
Mahoney carries a 4.0 grade point average in professional studies and was named the MAC Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

The Woman of the Year selection committee will next select the top-10 honorees in each division. These top-30 honorees will be announced in early September The selection committee will then choose and announce the top-nine finalists (three from each division) at the end of September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will determine the 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine finalists.

The top-30 honorees will be honored and the 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year will be named at the annual ceremony in Indianapolis on October 18.

Now in its 25th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.
