Mike Comerford hit two homers and
Kyle Lindsay became Misericordia's all-time hits leader as the Cougars defeated Manhattanville, 14-10, to advance to the MAC Freedom championship game.
Comerford had four hits and four RBI, including a pair homers, and
Kenny Jarema and
Chris Boroch both had three hits.Â
Miles Westrich had two hits, including a two-run homer.
Mike Turton worked 3.2 innings of relief to earn the win and
Elliot Forde got the final five outs.
Manhattanville took a 2-0 lead on a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the third, but the Cougars answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.Â
Lindsay drove in MU's first run with his 235
th career hit and Comerford added an RBI-single in the inning.
Manhattanville went back in front with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth and the Cougars tied it on Jarema's single to left in the bottom of the inning.
Comerford and Westrich both hit two-run homers in the fifth to give the Cougars an 8-4 lead.
Westrich and Boroch both had RBI-singles as part of a three-run sixth to put MU ahead, 11-4.
Manhattanville hit another homer as part of a three-run rally of its own to pull within 11-7 in the seventh and got three more in the eighth to cut MU's lead to 11-10.
Comerford led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer and Boroch and Lindsay both drove in runs to give MU a 14-10 lead.
Forde pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
MU will face DeSales at 5:40 and needs to win to force the decisive game, Monday.
