Misericordia University women's basketball standout Rachel Carmody (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) has been named the MAC Freedom Player of the Week.

A junior forward, Carmody averaged 9.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as the Cougars went 2-0 at the Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last week.

She had eight points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 69-45 win over Washington (Md.).

Carmody followed that with 10 points with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 59-56 come-from-behind win over Mary Washington. Carmody scored six-straight points as Misericordia pulled even late in the fourth quarter.
