McLoughlin Named MU's NCAA Woman of the Year

Katie McLoughlin (Windsor, CT/Windsor) has been named the Misericordia University NCAA Woman of the Year.
 
A senior women's lacrosse standout, McLoughlin was a four-year starter at goalie and served as a three-year team captain.
 
She was a three-time first-team All-MAC Freedom selection and was the league Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.  She is Misericordia's all-time leader in games played (72), wins (39), saves (609) and goals against average (10.92).  She holds school single-season records for goals against average (8.34) and wins (14).
 
She led the Cougars to three consecutive appearances in the MAC Freedom championship game.
 
McLoughlin is an eight-time Dean's List member and carries a 3.82 grade point average as a speech language pathology major.  She was a four-time Misericordia Scholar-Athlete recipient and was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll three times.
 
She was involved with numerous volunteer activities, including three years as a Misericordia Orientation Leader.

The Woman of the Year selection committee will next select the top-10 honorees in each division. These top-30 honorees will be announced in early September The selection committee will then choose and announce the top-nine finalists (three from each division) at the end of September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will determine the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine finalists.

Now in its 27th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.
