Kelly Bergin scored the game's only goal and
Jemila Najjar-Keith made it stand up as the Misericordia University women's soccer team beat Marywood, 1-0, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
After several good scoring opportunities in the first half, Bergin ripped a shot off the crossbar and chipped in her own rebound at 46:03.
Najjar-Keith made a sliding save on Caitlin Light's breakaway attempt with under 10 minutes remaining.
She added three saves in a flurry in front of the goal in the final two minutes and
Ashley McDonnell cleared a ball off the line with 1:15 to play to preserve the shutout.
The Cougars had plenty of good scoring chances in the first half, but were unable to finish.
Lauren Payne's shot was stopped at point-blank range at 17:45 and
Andrea Seirer ripped a shot at Marywood keeper Meghan Coyle five minutes later.
Kim Suchoski's shot rolled wide of the left post at 22:53 and Liz Lipovsky drilled a shot at Coyle at 24:54.
Bergin's shot was wide right and Suchoski ripped yet another shot right at Coyle in the final three minutes of the period.
Misericordia is 2-3 and will visit Oneonta, Saturday.
