The Misericordia University men's 400 free relay team set a pool record but the Cougars lost a tight 109-96 meet to Montclair State, Tuesday in the Anderson pool.
The relay team of
Adam Grzech,
Eric Schollmeyer,
Greg Vossler and
Jeff Clark held off Montclair to win in 3:18.31, dropping two seconds of the record that the group had previously held.
Clark also won the 200 IM in 2:01.95 and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team (along with
Matt Moates, Schollmeyer and Vossler).
With Clark leaving his strongest event, the 200 breast, to seek points elsewhere, MU was counting on
Doug Ranson to win that race. The freshman came through, taking first place with a time of 2:20.13.
Other MU winners were Vossler in the 50 free (22.63) and
Ben Annibali in the 200 back (2:08.57).
Misericordia is now 4-3 overall and will compete in the Longnecker Invitational at Grove City this weekend.
