The Misericordia University women's soccer team scored three times in the opening 27 minutes as the Cougars continued their perfect start to the season with a 4-1 victory over Susquehanna, Saturday afternoon.
After freshman
Alyssa Mocion opened the scoring less than six minutes in, sophomore
Laura Roney scored her team-leading third goal of the year with a 20-yard blast off an assist from
Sam Helmstetter.
The Cougars kept pushing forward and freshman
Emily Esposito made it 3-0 in the 27th minute when she finished off a rebound for her second goal in 2010.
Susquehanna pulled a goal back before half-time but Misericordia never seemed likely to lose control of the game and the visitors pushed their advantage back to three when sophomore
Nicolette Hensel played a great through ball to Helmstetter, making it 4-1 MU.
Senior goalkeeper
Morgan Myers improved to 4-0 on the season, making two saves. Freshman
Erika Deckard played the final quarter-hour of the game, her first appearance in goal for Misericordia.
The Cougars are now 4-0 and will travel to local rivals Marywood on Wednesday and Scranton on Saturday.
