The Misericordia University women's swim team lost a heart-breaker, 142-120, Saturday at Scranton.

MU led off the meet with afirst and third place finishe in the 400 medley relay.  The team of Bree Grzech, Beth Karmondy, Brittany Luzik and Chelsea Mixon won the heat in 4:08.77 while the team of Holly Welsh, Amanda Stammherr, Brianna Hiltey and Kiana Ramirez finished third with a time of 4:25.03.

In the 1,000 freestyle Alex Taylor finished first (11:29.00) six seconds ahead of the next finisher.  Jess Grant followed that race with a victory in the 200 freestyle (2:03.16).  Grzech touched out Scranton's top finisher in the 100 backstroke to finish first in a time of 1:02.07.  Luzik and Hiltey later finished one-two in the 200 fly with times of 2:23.43 and 2:27.42, respectively. 

The Cougars will travel to Messiah, Friday.
