Men's Swimming Defeats King's

Adam Grzech and Doug Ranson each took part in three wins, and the Misericordia University men's swimming team earned first place finishes in nine of 11 events in rolling to a 143-45 victory over local rival King's College on Thursday night at the Scandlon Pool.

Grzech and Ranson teamed with Brad Thomas and Chris Brozena to lead the Cougars to an opening victory in the 200 Medley Relay and the Cougars never looked back. Grzech also won the 100 Backstroke in 55.78 seconds while Ranson earned individual victories in the 50 Free (23.09) and the 100 Breast (1:01.43). Grzech also joined Danny Redell, Ben Annibali, and Matt Essington to close the meet with a win in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:33.99).

Matt Essington won the 200 Free in 1:55.19, while his brother Nick Essington won the 500 Free in 5:18.85. Pat Dunigan earned the win in the 400 IM (4:22.57), and Brad Thomas edged teammate Pat O'Dell for the 100 Fly victory (58.26).

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Lycoming for a 6:30 meet.
