Men's Swimming Drops Meet to Scranton

The Misericordia University men's swimming team won seven of 14 events on the day, but the Cougars came up just short, falling to Scranton, 140-120, Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center pool.
 
Adam Grzech and Peter Kolokithias each earned an individual victory while teaming with Matt Cullen and Brad Thomas for a narrow victory in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
 
Grzech outtouched Scranton's Grant Owens to earn the win in the 50 Free (22.99) while narrowly missing out on doubling up in the 100 Free. Kolokithias earned a decisive victory in the 200 Free (1:52.21).
 
Four other Cougars earned individual victories on the day. Sophomore Chris Panagacos earned his first career individual victory with a win in the 200 Fly (2:09.76) while freshman Pat O'Dell took the win in the 200 Back (2:06.99). Matt Essington earned a commanding win in the 500 Free (5:05.96) while Thomas Machi led a 1-2-3 finish for the Cougars in the 400 Individual Medley.
 
MU will host Messiah on Friday evening at 6:00 PM in their final regular season meet. Prior to the meet, the Cougars will honor their five seniors, Nick Ametrano, Chris Brozena, Adam Grzech, Vince Paone and Dan Zuckerman.
