Men's Swimming Earns Senior Night Win Over Messiah

Brad Thomas and Matt Cullen each earned an individual victory and took part in a pair of relay wins as the Misericordia University men's swimming team took nine of 11 events to defeat Messiah College 130-72 on Friday evening at the Anderson Aquatic Center.
 
Thomas won the 100 Fly by more than three seconds (55.89) while Cullen earned a strong victory in the 100 Free (50.52). The duo combined with seniors Adam Grzech and Dan Zuckerman to open the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay (1:43.02) and then closed the meet by pairing with brothers Matt and Nick Essington for the victory in the 400 Free Relay (3:24.28).
 
Chris Gleason earned the win in the 1000 Free (10:23.89) while Matt Essington led a 1-2-3 Cougar finish in the 200 Free (1:50.64). Pete Kolokithias took victory in the 200 IM (2:07.32) while Pat O'Dell finished first in the 100 Back (57.69) and Nick Essington earned the win in the 500 Free (5:06.28).
 
Prior to the meet, the Cougars honored seniors Nick Ametrano, Chris Brozena, Grzech, Vince Paone, and Zuckerman for their accomplishments during their four years with the program.
 
With their regular season now behind them, MU will look toward the 2013 MAC Championships, which will take place from February 8-10 at the Wyoming Valley CYC in Wilkes-Barre.
