Cougars Take 13 of 14 Events to Beat LVC

The Misericordia University men's swim team improved to 4-3 by beating Lebanon Valley, 169-76, on Thursday at the Anderson Center.

MU won 13 of 14 events on the day in the victory.

The Cougars started off the dual meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Patrick O'Dell, Thomas Scott, Thomas Machi and Peter Kolokithias set the tone with a time of 1:45.55.

O'Dell also earned victories in the 100 backstroke (58.38) and the 100 butterfly (58.11), while Scott won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.62) and the 200 breaststroke (2:15.46).

Machi added a win in the 200 butterfly (2:14.21) and Kolokithias finished second in both the 50 free and 100 fly.

The Cougars excelled in the distance events as Rob Jacobs and Nicholas Essington went 1-2 in both the 1000 and 500 freestyles.

Matthew Essington captured the 50 free in 23.64. He was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team that took the last event of the afternoon in 1:33.87 (Christopher Gleason, Matt Cullen and Kolokithias).

Gleason also added wins in the 200 freestyle (1:54.09) and 200 backstroke (2:10.57).

Cullen won the 100 free in 51.79.

MU will be home on Saturday against Albright.
