Despite placing three players in double figures, the Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game at Lycoming, 65-54, Tuesday.
Nikki Baro led the Cougars with 14 points while
Justine Seely and
Shelby Brochetti both had 10 points.
Seely added a team-high rebounds.
After
Sam Baro's three-pointer pulled the Cougars to within 45-41 with 9:53 to play, the Warriors went on a 12-3 run over the next five minutes.
Trailing 29-23 at halftime, the Cougars tied it with six straight points to open the second half.
Smicherko opened the second half with a jumper and Seely's putback pulled MU within two less than a minute into the second half.
Nikki Baro grabbed a defensive rebound and made a jumper at the other end to tie it, 29-29.
Lyco went back up by six, but Seely and
Nikki Baro answered with layups to make it 35-33 with 15:49 to play.
The Warriors stretched the lead to seven before
Sam Baro's three-pointer with under 10 minutes remaining.
The Cougars will open Freedom Conference play when they host defending national champion FDU-Florham, Wednesday, December 3.
