MU Falls in Field Hockey Title Game

Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss in the Freedom Conference championship game, Saturday at FDU-Florham.

Lindsay Hischak scored the lone goal for the Cougars off an assist from Hannah Harvey.

Angela Pasquini made three saves in goal.

FDU-Florham held a 12-10 advantage in shots and had a 12-5 edge in corners.

The Devils took an early 1-0 when Kim Davis converted a penalty stroke at 7:11.

The Cougars earned a corner less than a minute later, but Colby Eldridge's shot was saved by Amy Defnet.

MU had another corner with Harvey getting back-to-back shots and Hischak finished the second rebound to the score, 1-1, at 9:38.

Davis had three consecutive shots in the opening minutes of the second half with Pasquini stopping the only one that was on goal.

The Devils took the lead for good when Davis's shot was deflected into the goal by Niki Ikeda at 51:55.

The Cougars had one shot on the goal the rest of the way, but Jennifer O'Neill's attempt was saved by Defnet.
