#9 Cougars Upset at Arcadia

Box Score Despite holding a commanding 24-7 advantage in shots, the ninth-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Arcadia, Saturday afternoon.
 
After MU's Jacqueline Stevens was saved by Arcadia's Veronica Willig at 37:19, the Knights countered with a breakaway less than 30 seconds later for the game's only goal.
 
Megan Mahoney nearly tied for the Cougars just minutes later, but her shot was cleared by an Arcadia defender.
 
The Cougars had four consecutive shots blocked in a one-minute span late in the first half and had a corner with 10 seconds remaining but were unable to get a shot off.
 
Willig made a save on Meghan Antrim's one-on-one shot early in the second half and four MU shots in a four-minute span late in the second half were off the mark.
 
The Cougars held and 8-2 advantage in corners and earned their final corner with 30 seconds remaining but were unable to generate a shot.
 
Mahoney led the Cougars with three shots on goal while Devin Simpson, Erin Roberts and Meghan Antrim all put one shot on the frame.
 
Misericordia, 6-2, will host Gettysburg, Monday at 7:00.  Arcadia improved to 8-2.
