The Misericordia University field hockey team used a dominant first half to spark them to a 6-1 victory over Cedar Crest, Tuesday afternoon.
Jennifer O'Neill scored twice while
Colby Eldridge,
Lindsay Hischak,
Trinity Sprague and
Melanie Fry all scored once.
Kailey Vogl provided three assists while Hischak had two and Eldridge had one.
The Cougars got on the board early when Vogl passed the ball in the air to O'Neill who pushed the ball past the keeper in the third minute.
Hischak played a ball to Vogl who got it to Eldridge who finished to make it 2-0 just 10 minutes later.
In the 20
th minute O'Neill scored again, off another assist from Hischak.
Six minutes later Hischak turned goal-scorer, off an assist from Eldridge to put the Cougars up 4-0 heading into halftime.
In the 43
rd minute,
Trinity Sprague scored the first goal of her collegiate career off a feed from Vogl.
Melanie Fry put away a rebound to finish the scoring for the Cougars with 10 minutes remaining.
Cedar Crest got on back in the last minute.
The Cougar took 31 shots, 17 of them on goal and had 12 penalty corners.
The Cougars move to 4-9 on the season and will play DeSales, Saturday at 6:00.
