The Misericordia University soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wilkes in MAC Freedom action, Tuesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alex Gallagher scored the game's only goal off an assist from Jackie Stevens.

Maureen Ciccosanti had two saves in net and combined with Alyssa Pojero for the shutout.

Stevens laid the ball off to Gallagher who struck a low left footed drive that ricocheted off the left post in the 30^th minute.

In the second half, the Cougars had several opportunities to expand their lead.

Gallagher got on a loose ball inside the box but the Wilkes keeper got the ball before she could get a shot off early in the half.

In the 70^th minute, Rileigh Jo Evitts got a shot off from inside the box but it was deflected wide.

Kylen Smith played in several dangerous crosses from the left wing in the second half, but none resulted in a goal.

The Cougars took 27 shots to four for Wilkes while MU won the corner battle 7-4.

Misericordia moves to 11-2-1 on the year and 3-0 in conference.

MU will host Manhattanville, Saturday at 1:00.
