The Misericordia field hockey team lost a 1-0 decision to Eastern on a windy and rainy Homecoming Saturday morning at McGeehan Field.
Angela Pasquini was active in cage for the Cougars, making nine saves.
The Cougars had several opportunities to score, but couldn't find the back of the cage.Â
MU's best scoring opportunity in the first half came in the 28
th minute when
Jennifer O'Neill broke free on the right side and shot near post but the Eagles keeper was up to the challenge.
Midway through the second half,
Lindsay Hischak took the ball from midfield down the left wing but lost her footing on the rain-soaked turf before getting a shot off.
In the 60
th minute an Eagles forward ripped a shot that was headed for goal but
Samantha Partington made a great stop preventing the goal and keeping the score at 0-0.
Five minutes later, Eastern scored the game-winner by tapping in a cross at left post.
The Cougars won the corner battle 10-9.
Misericordia will travel to William Paterson, Thursday at 7:00.
