The Misericordia University football dropped a wild 40-38 decision at FDU-Florham despite record-setting performances by
Juwan Petties-Jackson and
Jeff Puckett.
Petties-Jackson had five receptions and set school single-game records with 165 yards and three touchdowns.

FDU-Florham opened the game with 17-play drive to take a 7-0 lead just over six minutes into the first quarter.

The Cougars answered with a 10-play, 67-yard drive, including 47 yards rushing by
Ryan Kurtz. Puckett hit Tom Stelzer for a four-yard TD to tie it.

MU converted a fourth-and-one to keep their next drive alive and
Clayton Vleck had three carries for 15 yards to move the ball to the FDU 34 yard line.

Puckett's 14-yard run gave MU a first down at the 15, but the drive stalled and MU settled for
Ryan Davis's 29-yard field goal to take 10-7 lead midway through the second quarter.

The score held until FDU-Florham scored twice in five-minute span late in the third quarter to take a 20-10 lead.

Puckett picked up 22 yards on first down on the ensuing drive and then hit Petties-Jackson for a 39-yard TD to pull within 20-17 with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter.

The teams traded six touchdowns in the final quarter.

Down 27-17and facing a second-and-20 near midfield, Petties-Jackson hauled in a 56-yard TD pass to cut the margin to three points.

The Devils answered with a long scoring strike of their own to go back up by 10.

Mark McMaster's 12-yard catch set up a first and goal and Puckett went in from two yards out to make it 34-31 with just under five minutes to play.

FDU-Florham struck quickly again for a 40-31 lead with 3:25 play.

After the teams traded punts, Puckett hit Petties-Jackson for a 46-yard TD to pull within 40-38 with 1:31 to play.

MU, 0-8, will host Wilkes for Senior Appreciation Day in their home finale, Saturday.
